Fly-cruise parking Southampton: one-way bookings explained
How fly-cruise one-way parking bookings work at Southampton, when to use them, and the practical logistics.
Some of our customers fly out of the UK to join their ship in another port, then sail home to Southampton. Others sail out of Southampton and fly home from a foreign port. Both are fly-cruise trips, and both need a slightly different parking arrangement to a standard return sailing.
We handle these regularly. Here is how they work.
The two fly-cruise patterns
Fly out, sail back. You fly from a UK airport to join your ship abroad, then sail home into Southampton. You still drive down to us first and drop your car at our yard, then make your own way to the airport. Your car stays in our compound for the whole trip. When your ship docks in Southampton we bring the car to the terminal, exactly as we would on any Meet and Greet return.
Sail out, fly back. You drive to Southampton and hand the car over at the terminal on embarkation day, just as you would normally. Your cruise ends in a foreign port and you fly home. You then travel back to Southampton in your own time and collect the car from our yard at a time we agree with you.
Some people fly both ways. That works too. The car simply comes to the yard and leaves from the yard.
How to book one
Give us a call on 07767 227 739. We arrange fly-cruise bookings over the phone rather than through the online booking form, because we need to know which leg is the flight and where each handover is happening.
It takes a couple of minutes. We will ask for your sailing, your dates, and roughly when you expect to arrive for the handover.
What it costs
A fly-cruise booking is priced on how long the car is with us, not on the length of the cruise. If you drop the car a day or two before you fly, that is the day the clock starts. If you collect it two days after you land, that is when it stops.
We will quote you the exact figure on the phone before you commit to anything.
Where the handover happens
The leg that involves a flight happens at our yard rather than at a cruise terminal, because there is no ship at Southampton for us to meet you at.
Our yard is a short drive from the M27 and there is room to pull in off the road. One of our team meets you, checks the car over on body cam, takes the keys and gives you a slot card. It takes about five minutes.
The leg that involves a sailing works exactly as it always does. We meet you at the terminal short stay car park, twenty yards from the gangway.
Getting your car back after a flight home
This is the part worth planning. Because you are flying back rather than sailing into Southampton, we have no ship arrival time to work from.
Once you know roughly what time you will reach Southampton, call us. We will have the car ready and waiting. If your flight is delayed or your plans change, call us and we will move it. We would far rather hear from you than have you worrying about it.
What we cannot do
We do not run transfers to or from any airport. The booking covers the parking side only, so please arrange your onward travel before the day.
We also cannot promise a handover at any hour of the night. Our normal slot times apply on the days your handover happens, so it is worth telling us your rough timings early.
In short
Fly-cruise trips are straightforward once we know which leg is the flight. Call us on 07767 227 739 and we will set it up.
