Getting to Southampton cruise port: routes, traffic and timing

How to plan your drive to Southampton cruise terminals, the routes that work, and how much time to leave.

By Cruise Azure team 1 min read

The drive to Southampton is straightforward, but changeover days can be busy. A little planning makes the morning calm instead of stressful.

The main routes

Most people arrive via the M3 or the M27. From the M27, you come into the city and follow signs for the docks and your terminal. Your cruise line confirms which terminal you are sailing from, so check that before you set off.

Traffic and timing

Saturdays are the busiest changeover days, when ships are both arriving and departing. We recommend adding an hour to whatever your sat nav says. It is always better to arrive relaxed with time to spare than to be caught in dock traffic against the clock.

We operate on 30-minute arrival slots, so aim to arrive within your booked window. You are welcome to arrive early, but try not to arrive late.

Finding us

Look for the blue and white Cruise Azure flag in the short-stay car park. Our drivers are there waiting. Hand over your car key, keep your house keys, and you are done.

On your return

Our team will be in the port waiting for you with your vehicle. Just head to our blue and white flag and our team will be able to assist you.
