First-time cruiser? Why we are the right parking choice

Why Cruise Azure is the right Southampton cruise parking choice for first-time cruisers, including the practical things that matter most.

By Cruise Azure team 3 min read

First-time cruise customers face a different parking decision from seasoned cruisers. The first-time customer is choosing without the benefit of past trips, often based on online research and marketing impressions. The wrong choice can colour the rest of the trip. This page covers why Cruise Azure is the right pick for first-time cruisers, with specific reference to what matters most.

What first-time cruisers worry about

From our 10,000+ customer history, the things first-time cruisers ask about most:

  • Will the car be safe?
  • Will the handover at the terminal be confusing?
  • Will I be able to find the driver?
  • What if I am late, what if the cruise is late?
  • Is the insurance real?
  • How much does it actually cost, all in?

Answers below.

Will the car be safe

Our compound is gated, CCTV-monitored, with overnight lockdown. The car spends the cruise behind locked gates with documented access (recorded in the body cam and visitor log).

The compound is about three miles from the cruise terminal. The car drives from the terminal to the compound after handover and back to the terminal before your return.

We carry £2 million of public liability insurance for the duration of every booking. Any damage to the vehicle during the time it is in our care is covered up to the policy limit.

Will the handover be confusing

No. The handover takes 2 minutes maximum and follows the same process every time:

  • You arrive at the short-stay car park at your booked 30-minute slot.
  • Our uniformed driver greets you (you will recognise them; the company is branded).
  • A body-cammed walk-around of the car, noting any existing marks.
  • A body-cammed walk-around.
  • Keys to the driver.
  • You walk the 20 yards to the cruise terminal building.

The handover post covers the detail step by step.

Will I find the driver

Yes. The driver is at the short-stay car park for your 30-minute slot. The driver wears a uniform with company branding and is recognisable.

If you arrive and do not immediately spot the driver, the driver is likely completing a handover with a customer ahead of you. The wait is typically a couple of minutes.

If you arrive and there is no driver, call the number on your booking confirmation. The duty driver covers gaps.

What if I am late, or the cruise is late

Text or call us if you know you are running late. As long as we know, the driver will wait. The running-late post covers this.

If your ship docks late on return, no surcharge. The late-return post covers the standard contingency.

Is the insurance real

Yes. £2 million of public liability insurance, in force for the duration of every booking. The policy is verified as part of our Trading Standards Buy With Confidence accreditation.

The insurance post covers what the figure means in practice.

How much does it cost, all in

Our pricing page shows the flat published rate. The price you see at the start of booking is the price you pay. No discount code to find, no fees added at checkout.

For a typical 7-day cruise:

Specific figures depend on the cruise dates.

Which service for a first-time cruiser

For most first-time cruisers, Meet & Greet is the right call. The terminal drop-off, the absence of a shuttle, and the short handover make the start of the trip simpler.

Park & Ride works for customers who specifically want the cost saving and are happy with a 10-minute shuttle.

What to expect on the cruise day

A summary for first-time cruisers:

  • Arrive at the cruise terminal 90 minutes before sail-away.
  • Find the short-stay car park (signposted from the dock gate).
  • Our driver meets you. 2-minute handover.
  • Walk 20 yards to the terminal building.
  • Cruise line check-in, security, embarkation.
  • Sail away.

On return, text us when you have docked. We have the car at the terminal short-stay car park within 15 minutes.

What if I have a question after booking
