Packing for a cruise is a little different from packing for a flight. You usually have more room, no strict liquid limits at the terminal, and a few dress codes to think about. Here is a practical list.
The essentials
- Passport and any visas for your ports of call
- Your cruise documents and booking references
- Travel insurance details
- Any medication you need, in your hand luggage
- A small day bag for the first few hours onboard
Clothes
Pack for the destinations, not just the ship. A British Isles sailing needs layers and a waterproof. The Mediterranean needs sun cover. Most ships have at least one or two formal nights, so check your line's dress code and pack accordingly.
The things people forget
- A power bank and the right plug adapters
- A lanyard for your cruise card
- Sea sickness remedies, even if you think you will be fine
- A reusable water bottle
- Sun cream, which is often pricey onboard
In the car
Keep your house keys separate and hand us only your car key. Take any valuables out of the car before you hand it over. If you want, we can photograph the car on arrival to record its condition.
On the day
Arrive within your booked slot, allow extra time for Southampton traffic, and look for our flag. Once your keys are with us, the holiday has started.
